Nintendo released a new firmware version 11.9.0-42 for 3DS console family which includes NEW 3DS/NEW 3DS XL/3DS XL/3DS/2DS/2DS XL. What the new change of 3DS 11.9.0-42? Is 3ds flashcart SKY3DS+ or homebrew exploit or CFW working on the latest firmware version 3DS 11.9.0-42?

Once 3DS 11.9.0-42 released, we updated our 3DS console to
11.9.0-42J. After testing, we find that sky3ds+ works on 3DS 11.9.0-42 without any issue. And it means you can sky3ds+ to play all new and old 3ds games on 3DS11.9

On July 10. 2017, Nintendo team released new firmware version-11.5.0-38. However, the new update still aims at improving system stability for Nintendo NEW3DS/NEW3DSXL, 3DS/3DSXL, and 2DS console. We have updated our 3DS console to V11.5.0-38J and test sky3ds+/sky3ds+ on it. We find that both orange button sky3ds+ and blue button sky3ds work on the latest firmware version without any issue. It means that sky3ds+ and sky3ds work on 3DS 11.5.0-38

For testing if sky3ds+ orange button and sky3ds blue button supports the new 3ds system version 11.2.0-35, we have updated our 3DSv11.0.0-34J to the late firmware version. The fact is that sky3ds+ and sky3ds play 3ds games on 3DSv11.2.0-35J without any issue.

If you usually use sky3ds+/ sky3ds to play 3ds games and do not use 3ds homebrew, you can update your 3DS firmware and play 3ds games freely. Or you have installed 3ds homebrew exploits, please do not update your 3DS until we can confirm what has and hasn’t been patched.

After five months, Sky3ds team releases a new template and adds five 3ds games for playing. The very popular 3ds games recently Dragon Quest VII(E/U) and Yo-Kai Watch 2: Bony Spirits/Fleshy Souls(USA) are included in new template file, and it means sky3ds users can play these games directly with blue button sky3ds on NEW3DS/3DS/2DS.
Please do not worry, we have tested and confirmed that the five 3ds games work well with sky3ds blue button.

If you just use sky3ds+sky3ds to play 3ds games, you can now update your console. Or if you have installed 3ds homebrew we recommend you avoid updating your console until we can confirm what has and hasn’t been patched.

SKY3DS+/SKY3DS can support Freakyhax on 3DS 11.0.0-33U/E

Developer Plutoo released a new 3DS homebrew exploit -Freakyhax based on 3ds games: Freakyforms Deluxe. Just like for old Ninjhax, Freakyhax also uses QR-code function of Freakyforms Deluxe to access to 3DS Homebrew Launcher. It also allows users to run tools, emulators and region free games on your console.

We download EUR version Freakyforms Deluxe and this game is non AP checks 3ds games. Sky3ds+ and sky3ds can both play this game on NEW3DS/3DS/2DS.

Requirement
N3DS/OLD 3DS9.0-11.0（US/EUR）(we use O3DS11.0E)

1. Download the latest version of freakyhax: “v0.zip” , extract it. Copy the  “DCIM” and “freaky.bin” in v0\build\old_eur\exploit  to the root directory of your 3DS console’s SD card.
2. Download the otherapp bin from https://smealum.github.io/3ds/, select your firmware version (only select NEW if you are running this on a New 3DS (XL); regular 3DS, 3DS XL and 2DS owners should select OLD), click”download otherapp” and get a “POST5_E_24576_9221.bin” for O3DS11.0.0-33E. Rename it to “otherapp.bin”. Copy it to the root directory of your 3DS console’s SD card.
3. Download homebrew starter kit  and extract all the files to the root of your 3DS console’s SD card.
4. Copy 3ds rom with us/eur version to your microSD card, insert sky3ds+/ sky3ds with microSD card to your 3DS console.

5. Press A to run this game,Play → Camera → Load a QR code → pick the image.

Then you will go to homebrew launcher.

How to build a new game header information file ( the pre-file for a template) ?

Sky3ds team do not update the template file for several month, as most of 3ds games newly released are in AP chekcs. However, there still some non AP checks 3ds games. As there games titles’ header information are not included in template file, you can not write the 3ds games to your microSD card.

So how can we edit the template data by ourselves and play the non Ap 3ds checks games which are not included in sky3ds template? You need to build a new game header information file(( the pre-file for a template)) which is necessary for making your own template file for sky3ds card

1. Download”WinHex.zip” , extract it and open “WinHex tool.exe” in the folder
Select option: “File”->”Open” to load the game rom.
2. You can see the hexadecimal code of this rom. Press key “Alt”+”G”, imput 1150
and click “OK”;

The cursor will go to the line 1150, you will see CTR-P in the end of this line which
means this game can be wrote normally. Otherwise, you rom should be imcomplate
or you can not write this game for sky3ds blue button.

3. Press key “Alt”+”G” again, and imput 4010 and click “OK” to go to line4010;

Press key “Shift”+”Ctrl”+”End”, you will select the code after line 4010;
Press key “Delect” and click “Yes” to delect these code.

If the size of deleted data over than 20MB , will show  window notice and  just
click “OK” to confirm.

4. Then you will see the last line is 04000;
select “File”->”Save As…” and name the save pre-file as “.3ds” format

How to create your own template file for the blue button sky3DS card?

As sky3ds template file has not been updated for long time and some of 3ds roms(non
Ap checks) newly released can not be play with sky3ds blue button. As the rom
header can not be added in time.

In this post, we will tell you the instruction of creating your own template file for  blue button sky3ds card. Then you can play non AP checks 3ds games with
sky3ds freely. We use Yo-Kai Watch as example.

Firstly, you need to build a game header information file( the pre-file for a template). Please follow this post: How to build a new game header information file ( the pre-file for a template) 

1. Download “template_tools.zip” and extract it. You will get two files:
GenerateTemplate.exe , Parse.bat. 
2. Copt the 3ds rom pre-file to the same directory with
GenerateTemplate.exe and Parse.bat.
3. Run Parse.bat file and there will be a new file generated “parsed.txt”
4. Open “parsed.txt”, you will see the 3ds rom header.
Tips；You put two/three 3ds rom header save files, you will get two/three 3ds roms
header.

5.Open template file and copy 3ds rom header to the end of template.txt. Save it and
then you can play the 3ds roms with your sky3ds+ blue button.

This instruction can be only replied to 3ds games with non AP checks. If it is the 3ds
games with AP checks, you can not run it even it has been flashed to your microSD
card. If you want to play AP checks 3ds games newly released, please use sky3ds+
orange button. Sky3ds+ can play all the newest 3ds games without diskwriter and
template.

Confirmed! Sky3ds+/sky3ds can support 3DS new update v11.0.0-33U

A big news shocks us. A new 3ds update comes out. Not v10.8 or 10.9, and it is v11.0.0-33U released. There is still not much changed with its changlog and we can not make sure which aspect nintendo try to block. So do not update your firmware version until there are confirmed news.

We test and confirmed that sky3ds+ orange button and sky3ds blue button can still support 3DS v11.0.0-33U the latest firmware version. If you just sue sky3ds+/sky3ds to play 3ds roms, you can update your 3DS without hesitation. Or you want to use Ninjhax to play other region games. Please do not update it now. Until their are confirmed news about the 3DS homebrew, then you can update the dervice.

Please notice that sky3ds+ and sky3ds are 3DS flashcards which can support 3ds games on the latest firmware. Other 3DS flashcards still can not support it.
