How to transfer sky3ds(blue button) game save to sky3ds+ orange button

SKY3DS+ orange button has been released almost one month which leads to a hot discussion. With much more powerful functions with sky3ds+, many users have ordered it. However, there is an important problem for users who also have a blue button sky3ds. How to transfer the Roms save data in sky3ds blue button to sky3ds+ orange button. In this post, we will introduce you the way with the example of Super Mario.

Requirement

1× SKY3DS+ orange button
1× SKY3DS+ blue/red button
1× New/OLD 3DS
2× MicroSD card

1. Please look at the Super Mario save interface with blue button sky3ds on 3DS

2. Insert the card reader with sky3ds microSD card to your PC;
Download the latest  Diskwriter V2.03 and open it on your PC. select the game you want to transfer, and right click “backup save2”. Then a .sav file for this game will be created.

3.Then copy the .sav file to your microSD card for your sky3ds+ orange button. The name of .sav file must be the same as the name of its Rom.

4. Insert sky3ds+ with microSD card to your 3DS console, and then start your game. Then you will find that the game save has been transferred successfully to sky3ds orange button.
Now you can enjoy games with sky3ds+.

What is the change for SKY3DS+(SKY3DS PLUS) orange button

SKY3DS+ is the new 3ds flashcard which pretend the genuine Nintendo N3DS/3DS cartridge using the cartridge emulation. It is  completely firmware-independent, which means it can always support the latest 3DS console firmware version.  In this post, we will introduce you what is the change for  SKY3DS+(SKY3DS PLUS) orange button.

There four different parts on the design between sky3ds+ orange button and sky3ds blue button. The first improves the customers’ experience. As we all know, there is only a one game-changing blue button which will cost much time on switch games if you have placed plenty of games on your card. The new sky3ds+ has two orange button which allows you to change games in two sections(Forward/Backward). This change also decreased game-switching time and make it faster for uses to find games they want to play.

The second change is that there is a  Micro USB connector on the side of card which makes the device work as a portable SD card reader. The third change is that there is not need to use DiskWriter utility and templates writing games. As the filesystem was switched to standard FAT32. What you need to do is copy the ROMs to your MicroSD card. And the maximum filesize supported by FAT32 is 4GB, and the few games which is larger than 4GB can be easily trimmed and applied with sky3ds+.

The last change is the most powerful one- the Sky3DS+ now uses a rewritable firmware chip which means sky3ds team can circumvent any new Anti-Piracy measures in the futures  from Nintendo.

How to use sky3ds+ to play 3ds roms over 4GB

We have introduced you sky3ds+ introduction how to play 3ds roms with sky3ds plus in the last post.  We all konw that the microSD card for sky3ds+ should be formatted to FAT32 in Windows. And the maximun storage for file is 4GB. So if the rom you want to play is over 4GB, you need to trim it and then place it to the microSD card.

Requirement:
3dsexplorer_v1.5.3_mod (ROM Tool 3.1_3DSGuy)

1. Download the 3dsexplorer_v1.5.3_mod (ROM Tool 3.1_3DSGuy) and exact it. Open the file”3DSExplorer.exe”
2. Click ‘File ->OPEN  and then choose the .3ds file you need to trim.
3. Click CCI->Trim CCI , and then you will find the 3ds rom has become smaller.

SKY3DS+Instruction

1.  Copy the 3ds roms(Fire Emblem If/Monster Hunter X) to the root of your microSD card, no diskwriter tool needed.
2. Download the newest gamelist.bin( like old sky3ds template file) and firmware.bin(kernel) from sky3ds official site, and copy them to the root of your microSD card.
3.Insert your microSD card to sky3ds+,  connect sky3ds+ and your PC with usb cable. SKY3DS+ will flash red light about 10 seconds and then green light in 10 seconds,  the light will be down.( during it, the kernel firmware.bin is installing ).
After the light is down, you can open your microSD card and delete the ‘firmware.bin’

4. Insert the sky3ds+ to your 3DS console and enjoy your 3ds games freely. There are Fire Emblem If and Monster Hunter X on 3DSv10.3.0-28. you can switch games freely by two orange buttons.

Tips: A settings.txt file and other .sav file for each games will be built in your microSD card once start to play games.

Open the settings.txt,  there will be two lines: the first line is your kernel version. The second line is CREATE_PER_GAME_SETTINGS = 1. Set the CREATE_PER_GAME_SETTINGS = 1(default 0, can change it anytime later) and save it, a .CFG file will be created in your microSD card after a game has been played, it is the rom header of each game. you can build you own .CFG file for playing a new game(or an online game) later if you know how to get those info properly, which means you don’t have to wait for the updated gamelist.bin file by our site, the .CFG file has a higher priority than a gamelist.bin file.
